Things are not quite as spoiled
Well at least I feel relatively human today which is a start. had some nice feedback about Saturday- workshops and performance which is lovely because yesterday i'd convinced myself that nobody had ever liked me- ever in the world and i might as well eat worms!!!! funny how you loose perspective on life after 24 hours of a view down the toilet. So fed up about it because not only did I miss Asmahan but also missed seeing people again and having time to chat which I did n't on the Saturday and I'm not ill these days I'm used to feeling great so even the principle of being poorly is annoying.
The restaurant I dance in at Bridlington has got back in touch so I'm dancing there in a fortnight (if they get the bookings) which should be good. I'm also starting my advanced class on Sunday which I'm so looking forward to because I shall get a lot out of teaching it.
AND THE MELODIAS HAVE COME- WOOO HOOOO!!!
AND I'VE BOUGHT A FAB COSTUME THIS FESTIVAL- There were 4 to choose from-I'm not kidding 4 that I could actually try on and decide which was best.Hurrah for Mandy and the Shimmyshop (slightly tempted to ask if she's still got the purple one-mmmmm!)

Things are spoiled
Am almost too fed up to write this. Yesterday I felt increasingly off it and by the time I got home I felt awful and spent the night throwing up ...so I could n't go to Asmahans workshops today WAAAAAAAAAH!!!
However the day went ok,workshops ok,my performance ok. Met and re met some nice people. The performance evening was a bit long-glad I was on near the beginning. Khalid and Asmahan were fab. Khalid was really excellent and Asmahan danced wonderfully. She has a lot of presence and her stagecraft and clever costuming were fantastic. She really was in a league of her own.
Did buy a wonderful costume from Mandy-its really unique red and black lycra with silver metal foil material squares that quivver- I'll post a picture when I get it I realise I'm not making it live!!

JOY
Well big day tomorrow. its JOY 6 at Saltaire. am so looking forward to it. Its the first one I've actually taught at when I'm fit and healthy. i was off the medication last year and I thought I was better but having come further down the road to recoverary I realise I wasn't at all well-I can't believe I shall feel much better than this but who knows every couple of months it has struck me how well I feel then a couple of months later i feel even better. its so great to dance now.

I've got two workshops together that I'm really pleased with- Exercises to improve-the one hour version, it is usually 2 hours and it has taken some work to cut it down and get it slick-I decided to stick with upper body work and hip shimmy ,I'm especially pleased with the chest drill. The Move it workshop is also shaping nicely and (I think) it is full of useful stuff.

The wings workshop has taken some working out-mainly because I changed my mind at the last minute(this week!!!-eek!!) and decided to do my take on wings-its only an hour workshop so I can't do everything. So it is very much wings according to Candi-with ideas on posture, developing arm strength-dancing with the whole body and generally putting some power and drama into it. I know it will be quite different from a lot of peoples take on it-keep seeing slow and meaningful fusion stuff- well I don't do that. I think that they are best when you get them to move with a bit of power behind them to upbeat music. I like to use them as a spectacular entrance number. So as long as everyone who attends the workshop is not of the slow, meaningful, fusion or wafty school of wing thought- I should be ok.

SOB!!! The new melodias hav n't come due to post probs-WAAAAAAH. They've been in the country since 5th Oct. I shall have to wear my old ones. Never mind they are pretty diva-ish.

I wonder if anyone will sell me a costume!!!!!!!!!Mmmmmm we'll see. I'm sure Many will have her usual fabulous designs and she is the only one whoever has anything to fit-sooo this could be it

Barnsley Class
Wow just got back from a great Sunday class. Starting teaching my new supposedly foolproof arm method-seemed to work-early days yet. Some people very kindly said it made a lot of sense...so far so good.
Our Haggallah dance, based on the Reda Troupe version, is really cooking. Its evolving into something really special. i'm so pleased with it. I decided that we would do 3 specific group dances this year-the haggallah,a khaleegi and a Lebanese debke. I've had enough of choreographing jolly Egyptian pop and the world has seen too many group veil dances!!!!We also need a break from finger cymbal dances. A lot of great suggestions from the class have really helped the dance work.
So now I've nothing to worry about except -will the melodias arrive in time for JOY on Saturday. Must look diva-ish. I was the first teacher to sell out, after all. Got to look the part at least!!!
